Easy at Home Nail Art 11 – Zebra Nail Art for Foot
Hi everyone! I am happy to share this nail art not because it is close to my heart or something but because it is super duper easy. This is my first encounter with Zebra Nail Art and I am happy as a beginner. I had read a lot about ladies going gaga over this nail art. At the same time I also read that it is super easy. Bingo! That’s what I wanted for my readers. That is what my focus is currently with the ‘Easy At Home Nail Art’ series.
I had been trying to work with brushes for long but was unsure on the finishing part. so never touched them at all :( . But this nail art is perfect for people who are under confident with brushes to begin with. It doesn't require much of precision and is random so symmetry issue is also solved. More often we do nail art for hands; so this time I thought to target my foot for some pampering :P. There is another motive behind this also :D. Since this is the first time I am doing Zebra stripes and using brush, foot is a safe option to practice. The flaws will be barely noticeable :) .
After endorsing this nail art enough lets quickly go back to the tutorial.

Items Needed:
- Base Coat
- Top Coat
- Blue Nail Paint – I used Colorbar
- Black nail paint/ Acrylic Paint
- Nail Art Brush/Normal Camlin Brush which is fairly thin ( Check the picture, it costed me like a Rs 10 or less)
How to tame the Zebra:
- Do the usual cutting, filing and washing of nails. Apply the base coat and allow it to dry.
- Cover your foot nails with this lovely blue.
- Now, dip the brush in black nail paint/acrylic paint and start drawing patterns. Remember, the nail art may look like it has random stripes but it is drawn in a pattern to avoid mess. Choose any pattern like a Z, >, <, /, / etc. Make your first pattern at the centre and then follow similar patterns to fill in the space. Do not try to copy the exact pattern, just do a rough draw. I used the > pattern. Please size your pattern as per the size of your nail bed.
- Finish with top coat and voila, you tamed the Zebra!.

Additional Info:
- I have chosen a blue color over white (which is the original base color for actual zebra) because any flaws on white will be more evident. As a beginner avoid working with white as base a lot.
- Do not restrict your mind for using only white or grey shades for zebra nail art. I have seen amazing Zebra nail arts in fluorescent pink as well. So don’t fall short of choices for base color.
- If you are not interested in covering the entire nail just cover half the nail with zebra prints. The half can be divided horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
- This is an amazing nail art for short nails as well. They look cute on short nails, so deprive short nails from the privilege of nail art.
Important Note: It just took me under three minutes to draw the zebra stripes :P. After Don’t Phunk with my Heart Nail Art, this is another nail art which took this less a time. So that adds to the extra excitement :). With this nail art fresh in my mind, I am planning to divide nail art into three sections. It is for readers to get the kind of nail art they are looking for easily. The categories are :
- DIY Nail Art without Tools
- DIY Nail Art with simple Nail Art Tools
- DIY Nail Art which take under 3 minutes
What do you think guys, is this a good idea? After all I am writing this blog for readers so it’s best if I ask your opinion. Please share your thoughts on this proposal helping me decide. Also let me know how you found this nail art :) .

ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. I have a question though. How do you maintain stability for the right hand [assuming you're right handed :P ] ? I simply cannot keep my left hand steady when painting with it.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you liked it.
ReplyDeleteI have the age old cliched answer for this but I bet it works...'It comes with practice' but it is not difficult believe me. Even I do horrible working with left hand and that is how we are programmed :). But chose your designs wisely to begin with. Dots wont go wrong and stamping wont go wrong, sticking fimo, rhinestone, flocking powder wont go wrong. So begin with these....then switch to free hand and brushes. And when u are switiching to brushses try on ur feet first. He he....This nail art is actually my first time with brush and one of blogger friend suggested trial with foot, And it worked. It helped me increase my confidence :). It will work for u too....
Believe me I always say, it requires more of WILL than SKILL. Let me know if u need furher help or guidance.
