Summer is Back Nail Art

March 31, 2014 Setu 37 Comments

Hi Sunshines, I mean literally sun is shining in full swing these days. Usually Mumbai doesn't experience much heat but this time its not even April and the temperature is rising. So with the Sun smiling back at us, I thought why not welcome it with a Nail Art?

Summer is Back Nail Art

For this look I used:

  •  Maybelline  ColorShow BlueBerry Ice as base color.

  • The Cloud and Sky image on all nails except ring finger is from my Cheeky "Princess Charming" Plate (I am loving this plate currently). I used Konad spl black for stamping.

  • On ring finger I drew a yellow round for sun and highlighted outer circle with orange acrylic paint to get the intense look. Using fine brush I also drew glares of sun using same Orange color.

  • To get the shine on the sun I dabbed some loose golden glitter on my sun . I am happy with the kinna blaring, sparky and hot feel my sun is giving :)

  • I sealed the nail with Seche Vite (I just got my first even SV and I am very Excited)

Summer is Back Nail Art

The nail art did not take long to finish and I am kinna happy with it. Today was an unlucky day for stamping as I was failing miserably to get the design on my stamp!! On an average I must have tried polishing, scraping and getting image on my stamper for not less than 20 times to get the image on 8 nails :( . Pretty bad I know, but I did not want to give up.

Anyways, how did you find the nail art? Does it throw some sunlight to you too?? Is your day lightened up seeing this? Please share your views on this nail art :)

Inglot Freedom System Lipstick Refill No 85 Review

March 28, 2014 Setu 5 Comments

Hi Beauties, As you can read from my previous posts, I have kinna got active on makeup also (as if my polish craziness wasn't enough) :P :P . So I am in self destruction mode where I am chopping of my wallet with the axe of nail art, nail polish and now makeup stuff also    :( :(. So as I informed you earlier, I had been to Inglot Outlet in Delhi in November (I know its late to review but I need to use it to review it :P ).But didnot get much chance to use it till last month.

Inglot Freedom System Refill Lipstick Shade 85 Review

(The above pic shows the swatch without Flash)

Inglot Refill Lipstick Shade 85 swatch

(The above pic shows the swatch with Flash)

My Experience :

Let me first talk about the color. Hmmm, if I could put it most simply it is mauvish-pink. It is  an absolute day time shade, while can be perfectly wore at night too. It is girly yet sophisticated. It should go well with all Indian skin tones. One can proudly wear it to office too. I mean I am sure this shade would not possibly be a mis-match for any one and any occasion.

Now, the consistency....hmmmm..lets just say its like butter which is not as hard when frozen or as flowy when molten. It is as soft and smooth as butter at room temperature :) . It doesn't de-hydrate your lips or make them dry. I did not find it settling to fine lines too. It doesn't have an absolute matte finish, its a bit shiny on lips in a good and decent way. It does not come with a brush, you need to buy one.

The staying power is quite good for price, actually impressive :) . It stays for easy 3-4 hours. Yes, it does transfer a bit. But it is acceptable.

Inglot Freedom System Lipstick Pallete

(The above pic includes the Inglot Palette which does not come with the product)

Pros :

  • Wide variety of colors

  • Very Affordable

  • Long Staying for upto 4  hours and more.

  • Does not dry out on lips or settles in fine lines

  • Glides smoothly with a smooth consistency

  • This shade is Everyday- Everyplace color

  • Highly Pigmented, just one swipe gives the correct shade

  • Transfers a bit.

  • You gotto have a palette for storing refills or it is difficult to store them/carry them.

Overall rating : 4.5/5

Will I re-purchase Inglot Freedom System Lipstick Refill? Yes, Yes, Yes.....I am not a lipstick person but I am very keen on having these more.

Spring Flower Nail Art

March 25, 2014 Setu 5 Comments

Hi Cupcakes, Spring is round the corner and I am imagining flowers and blossoms. Although the reality is its hot in Mumbai :(. Really, the weather is giving such negetive vibes but the thought of spring helps to keeps thought fresh atleast. Otherwise, the image of the nail art would be difficult to imagine :P :P .

Spring Flower Nail Art

I wanted to something really splendid for Spring Flower but I am stuck with average. The problem is I barely get time for nail art with office and home. I never practice any nail art, I just throw my imagination directly to nails, without realising that brushes don't always support your thoughts   .

Spring Flower Nail Art

Spring Flower Nail Art

Anyways, I dont want want to be grumpy, the nail is pretty ofcourse (but not mind blowing :( ). I used Wet and Wild 2% Milk for base. The rest of all the painting is done using acrylic paint and fine brush. I did a Top Coat with Sally Hansen Hi-Shine. I dont know but I feel I could add some more elements to this nail art, to make stand out. But I am clueless as to what??

Spring Flower Nail Art

And since I cant figure it out, you have got only this for your Spring Nail Art. I will try a better one next time. However, the nail art is definetly colorful and cheerful. My friends also liked it and praised it. I hope you feel the same :)

Spring Flower Nail Art

Did any one of you also do a Spring Nail Art or am I too early? I dont know, but I am really looking forward for bright , colorful, happy florals around :)

Festive Wedding Nail Art

March 23, 2014 Setu 7 Comments

Hi Friends, if you remember I had been to Pune for a wedding some time back. Back then I did a wedding nail art for me, my sis and my cousin :)  Fortunately, all them of almost turned out well.

Today, I am sharing the nail art I did for my sister. She was very fascinated with flocking powder so sprinkled some :) :)

Velvet Festive Nails Nail Art

I used NYX pastel Yellow and Maybelline Colorshow Keep Up the Flame to paint her fingers.

Applying Flocking Powder / Getting Velvet Nails :

Even on the fingers where I applied Red Flocking/velvet powder I applied a shade similar to velvet powder underneath. It is important to wear the same color polish because some times your nude nails may give a peek-a-boo :P . Also, if you lose some velvet at some place, it should not be starkly visible, the polish will camouflage. Apply the flocking powder on wet polish and just press them to stick. Remember to sprinkle the flocking powder so that they don't form lumps. You can also spread the velvet powder on a paper and rub it to even the strands out. You can also apply it over nail glue (applied over dry polish) instead of just wet nail paint so that they stay longer.

Velvet Festive Nails Nail Art

On the fingers painted yellow, I did a simple sleek tribal/traditional kinna design using red acrylic paint. I wanted a bit of a traditional/rustic look to make the nail art look traditional.

Velvet Festive Nails Nail Art

My sister was wearing a mustard and red anarkali , so this color combination complimented it. And most importantly , my sister was happy with it and I was relieved. And this nail was quite quick and easy, as opposed to the heavy glamour it gets to your attire.

What do you think about the nail art? Would you want to wear it for any of your such occasions? Pls comment and let me know.

Sparkling Water Nail Art

March 16, 2014 Setu 9 Comments

Hi Cupcakes, I am very excited to share something new with you today. I am experimenting 'A lot of sparkles nails' and also daring to share with you all  . I am too shy to wear a lot of glitters on my nails. But tomorrow I leave for Goa and I am in all festive mood. I thought what better than carrying sparkling waters on my nails to the Goa Beach. Ohh!! how I relieved I am to go on a very mini break. Its march and I am too busy in office exhausted. So a mini Aqua Break. I love beaches, don't you?

Sparkling Water Nail Art

Sparkling Water Nail Art 1

Warning : This post is picture heavy, you can get shots of glitters in soooo many ways :P

Sparkling Water Nail Art 2

Sparkling Water Nail Art 3

Ok, enough talking, back to the nail art. So this is what I used

Sparkling Water Nail Art 4

  • Rimmel Mintilicious

  • Maybelline Colorshow Shoking Seas

  • Essence Vintage District Gel look Top Coat

  • Missha CrystalNail Polish

How to do Sparkling Water Nail Art :

  1. Do the cleaning, cutting and file of your nails. Apply a base coat and let it dry.

  2. Use any minty shade polish for the base color. You can any color combination of your choice, I wanted mint and blue.

  3. Sponge some blue polish over the nail tips to get a gradient effect. You know how actually waves look lighter and darker shades of blue when viewed from different distances. Yes, to get that effect.

  4. Now, I used the glitter bomb polish from Mishha Crystal Polish. There are endless glitters in the polish so I used them sparingly so allow some visibility to my gradient polish too.

  5. Now,since I am not applying the glitter at all places but just dragging though, the finish won't be smooth. So, to smoothen out and give lasting shine I used a top coat.

Sparkling Water Nail Art 7

Sparkling Water Nail Art 8

Viola! My shiny , sparkly water nail art is ready. I was aiming for other nailart in reality, but it ended up in a disaster. So this is a damage control nail art. But I am very happy with it.

Sparkling Water Nail Art 9

Can you see the cool mint and blue gradients within? And the diamond like shine that these crystal glitters and are giving? I wanted a glossy and jazzy nail art for my holiday, and now I have one. I would never worn this otherwise, had I not been off to Goa.

Sparkling Water Nail Art

I really hope you enjoyed it and loved it. Please leave your comments :)

Maybelline Makeup Remover Eye and Lip Review

March 14, 2014 Setu 2 Comments

As I mentioned in my previous post girls, I do not use much makeup so logically I never needed much of a makeup remover too  . I used to use cold pressed Jojoba oil to do the makeup removing thing for long now. But with my sensitive skin , I wanted to avoid oil when I already had acne :-? . So when I went to Beauty Centre to pick up the Maybelline Mousse Foundation, this purchase was a logical extension.

Maybelline Makeup Remover Eye and Lip Review

Maybelline Makeup Remover Eye and Lip Review

Price and Quantity : Rs 225 for 70 ml

My Experience :

I was actually impressed with the packaging in first look. The bottom half has transparent liquid while the top half has blue liquid floating. The blue is for oil based makeup cleansing. This was my first makeup remover so the concept of two types of remover liquid both for oil and water base was eye catching. Someone who has already come across may not be equally amused. I know 'Like' dissolves 'Like' so I was very happy that both water and oil based makeup are going to be taken care of

Maybelline Makeup Remover Eye and Lip Review

It is advised to shake the bottle and use so that both removers blend and are in action together :) , because your foundation may be water based while your lipstick is oil based. I always shake the bottle and get some on my cotton pad. And the makeup goes off easily with single swipe. I was happy that I didnt have to rub or pull off :). It is effective, I must say.

Maybelline Makeup Remover Eye and Lip Review

I am careful while selcting products since I have a sentisive skin and also I wear contact lenses. To my great relief this product is Ophthalmologically and Dermatologically Tested.

Maybelline Makeup Remover Eye and Lip Review

I have used Jojoba Oil before and both are effective but it is really convinient to have a makeup remover handy. I do not repent purchasing it at all :) . And Maybelline is just touching the roofs with innovating and launching more and more at affordable price. Let me just put down my experience in points for you to asses easily :)

Pros :

  • Nailed packaging by clearly showing oil and water based cleanser (It got me interested instantly :) )

  •  Very Affordable (cheaper than my Jojoba Oil)

  • Travel friendly, no leakage

  • Cleans both oil and water based makeup

  • Removes makeup smoothly

  • I tried removing foundation, lippie and eyeliner and it cleaned everything.

  • Not a lot of product is required, little is effective.

  • No pulling or rubbing required to clean your skin

  • Skin doesn't feel too dry or too oily after use, just a clean dewy feel :)

  • Ophthalmologically and Dermatologically Tested

Cons :

I swear can't think of any. I am just running out of points for cons with my recent Maybelline purchases.

Overall Rating: 5/5 (Its not a surprise). This is one purchase I am immensly happy with lately. The price and performance are very impressive. If you are not yet using a makeup remover, grab this (won't even pinch on pocket).

Have you tried Maybelline Makeup Remover Eye and Lip lately?? Are you equally impressed with Maybelline these days? I am having a mild crush on them I guess :P :P . And this love developed when my hubby gave me Entire Colorshow Nail Polish as my Karva Chauth gift. I have not stopped purchasing Maybelline since then :P :P

Minty Flower Blossom Nail Art

March 11, 2014 Setu 5 Comments

Hi All, you know the feeling when you conceive an idea in your mind, thinking its going to turn out beautiful. But the end result doesn't amaze you half even :( . Yes, I had a beautiful image of how this nailart would turn out. But it was not as great, not ugly though :).

Minty Flower Blossom Nail Art

Anyways, I used Rimmels Minitilicious and Tip Top Fairy Dust for mint and light purple respectively. I wanted to use my newly acquired mint n white matte glitter(hexes) polish so I thought of this color combination.

Minty Flower Blossom Nail Art

I used nail art brushes and acrylic paint to get the blossom on my middle and ring finger. I used the mint n white matte glitter(hexes) coat over Tip Top fairy Dust to balance the color combination.

Minty Flower Blossom Nail Art

I bought the polish from a local store, for Rs 80 I guess :) :) . Amazing thing at this price. Isn't it?

Minty Flower Blossom Nail Art

I removed this nail art in a day. I also slept on it while it was in an impressionable wet stage :( :( :( . So those ugly lines made me pull my hair every time I looked at them. Hence a very short lived nail art. I think the colors cast a sense of freshness too :) . Hope you enjoyed it. Do share your thoughts :)

Fall In Love With Yourself

March 07, 2014 Setu 9 Comments

Hi, This Woman's Day I just wanted to share with you a thought. I had written this article monthsss back, but never found a better time to publish it. This Womans Day no cool nail art or verbose product review, just wanted to steal you attention for a bit to let you go through this!!

Fall In Love With Yourself

Let me begin with an abrupt question. Who do you spend your maximum time with? Do obvious answers sound like - Husband? Parents? Siblings? Office Mates? Your Children? and so on..? The correct answer is one spends maximum time with himself/herself.

Fall in Love with You Image 1

Respect your elders, love your younger ones, be kind to the less privileged, spend time with your family, work hard for your organization, never lie to others…… does this sound familiar? Yes, since childhood this is like a record which has been played in our mind again and again and again. I think no one here can claim to have escaped multiple dosages of these words of wisdom. So much so that these have become universal facts to live a good life and be a good person.

But while our minds were shoved with how to behave with others, no one taught us how to treat ourselves. True, one should respect elders but how about yourself; don’t you deserve some respect as well? Of course love your younger ones; but aren’t you responsible to love yourself too? Be kind to the less privileged but do you have the privilege of everything you ever deserved? So, why shouldn’t you be kind to yourself too? Spend time with your family but how about spending some time with yourself first? Work hard for your organization, you owe them; well working hard on yourself isn’t half as bad. Infact, you owe more to yourself!

These are the things that no one would tell you; they aren’t even included in our close to perfect curriculum. We have mugged up books that throw light on our past & history in school but not a single chapter on our future? We have so many projects on people management in MBA but how did we miss out on any projects to manage ourselves (and this doesn’t include the useless lectures on time management)? Is it possible that everyone forgot including these in our curriculum, projects and books? Believe me NO. Because how to treat yourself, how to manage yourself, what will your future be and how to live with yourself cannot be taught by anyone; it is to be learnt and acquired on our own. No curriculum, management lesson, books or project can teach you that.

So stop, wait and think are you good to yourself? Are you respectful to yourself? Are you kind to yourself? Are you in love with yourself?

Fall in Love with You Image

Is it bad to offer yourself a compliment when you look pretty? Is it not acceptable if you pat your back each time you succeed? Is it wrong to hug yourself and assure you that ‘you are there for you’ even if others leave your side? Is it weird to kiss your hands after cooking an excellent dinner for your family? Is it not correct if you love yourself?

To be honest, I try to treat myself a little bit each time I achieve something. That little bit may be a chocolate, a nail polish(mostly nail polish), some cosmetics…. I try to pamper myself by sleeping long hours if I have overworked the previous night. I kiss my nails each time I amaze myself with a beautiful nail art(I practice this most often :P) . Its nice to comfort tired foot in warm water dip every time you have dragged them for long without their wish. Buy yourself some gift, be it shoes, cosmetics or a 5 ml nail paint every time you succeed in controlling your urge to shop for months. Do splurge in an exotic dinner in  restaurant every few months if you have punished your taste buds with bland healthy food.

Fall in Love with You Image 1

Frankly speaking, we all must have faced situation when we were too tired to make a hot tea for our sore throat, so we have skipped it leaving us miserable and coughing. But as soon as your spouse/parents/child/guest asked for a hot chocolate you were up on your toes to get one. So my question is why couldn’t you this for you? Why couldn’t you care for yourself? Isn’t your sore throat screaming for some help? Well, the bitter truth is we take ourselves for granted. But don’t worry, you are not alone, because when you take yourself for granted the world will follow it, others will also take you for granted!!

Fall in Love with You Image 1

Care for yourself if you want others to care for you. Have you ever wondered why your mother is more careful while cooking for some people while they don’t bother much while cooking for themselves? Have you ever felt that even if you said you are tired you still get requests to make coffee from your child/husband but when your husband says he is tired you draw curtains, dim the lights and ask him to rest?

It’s  because your mother knows that some people care for taste and perfection in food.Because you have conveyed the message that you can still run around and be at service even if you are dead tired.

The symptoms of the disease described above are especially true when thought in context to a woman. We have so much love and care and kindness and tenderness to offer the world, while we have so little allocated to us. We can make endless number of coffees for our husband but not one cup of tea for us the way we like it. The dinner menu is always what your husband or child likes, ever considered cooking your favorite food GUILT FREE? Your child’s chapped lips bring so much pain to you and those cracks on your feet never crossed your mind? Do you always have to depend on your husband/boyfriend to tell you that are beautiful; can’t you shout out loud and say this to you? How about making your favorite tea and sipping it while watching your favorite movie, without worrying about the soiled linen in washing machine? How about running for a pedicure once before you run to get the boring grocery for home?

Try being a little kind to you, be soft to you, pamper yourself, sympathize with yourself and remember all the things within you which are worth loving. Loving one isn’t a crime. Why is love always considered as something that we should get from others and not as something which we can do from within?

Fall in Love with you Image 5

I am not endorsing selfishness here but yes, I am pitching a little bit of self love and self involvement. Why is ‘me’ before ‘we’ a crime? We are guilty to even think of this. Only if you are happy you can make others happy. Only if you are thrilled, you can pass on the adventure to others. Only when you enjoy yourself others can enjoy with you. So others will care for you only as much as you care for yourself. They will be as good to you as you are to yourself. And they would love you as much you love yourself.

The more you do for you, the more you will have the capacity to do for others. A sick person cannot be a doctor. A limp person cannot help others walk. A blind person cannot help others see the world. A hollow person cannot complete others life. And a love deprived person cannot love others.

But above all, can you guess the strongest reason to love yourself? It’s because no one can ever love you as much as you can. You are the best judge of yourself and you are your best help. No one will ever take you more seriously than you. And you will always be there for you.

Please share this article with all the wonderful ladies who deserve paying attention to them.

Lace Nail Art

March 03, 2014 Setu 4 Comments

Hi Beauties,

Finally I feel so normal and at home sharing my nail art from my new blog :) :) . Its after ages that I am participating in any challenge. I am a member of ILL ( Indian Lacquer Lover) group which is a facebook group of Indian Nail Art Fans. We have lovely weekly challenges but I rarely participated. I am planning to be more active on weekly theme nail art. And the theme for this week is "Lace". So I am here with my share of "Laces".

Lace Nail Art

I was expecting to do it better but I have to settle with a slightly lesser one :( .I am not keeping very well, so my hands are a bit shaky due the momentary weakness I have developed. So here is my attempt to the Lace Nail Art.

Lace Nail Art

I used a local brand's peachy shade, topped it with Sally Hansen Disco Ball. I used a nail art brush which is brought to precision by trimming with scissors. And of course a black acrylic paint for designing and finally a Essence Top  Coat to preserve the design :) .

Lace Nail Art

Lace Nail Art

Although its not the best I could do , at this point in time, you gotto settle with this. I am not totally disappointed. This is a delicate feminine nail art and I like the color combo. What are your thoughts? Do you like it?
