My First Tape Nail Art using Maybelline Glitter Mania

May 31, 2014 Setu 8 Comments

Hi Girls, this is my first attempt to tape mani and I am really unsure if it is good. I love the finished look but I suck at tape manis. I have tried them a couple of times in past but they were Urrrghh!! I fail at it and they make feel very low, so I stopped attempting them at all.

But something happened and I was left with no option. I participated in #HePicksMyPolish on facebook. I had been hearing about this a lot and had been wanting to do it. Finally, I will be joining this time. Knowing that I picked up Color Show Glitter Manis last week and I would be crying to use it, he got partial I think. He picked up three of Maybelline Glitter Mania which are Stromy Night, Red Carpet and Matinee Mauve.

Since these polishes are textured kinds, I thought why not a Tape Mani?? But trust me , I was feeling through out the process, that something or other is gonna happen and this will fail again. Well, it's not out of the world but I am okay with a first attempt. Atleast it is in a condition to share with you, unlike the others which had no one to look at them because I never published them :P.

I did a mistake though in completing the challenge, I forgot that we needed to choose only 3 polish and I used a fourth one. I thought it will just be an underlying polish but I forgot it will be visible after pulling off tapes. You see its my first time with both the challenge and the tape mani :P :P.

But I promise to be careful next time. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I planning on joining it every month :). My husband also helped me in the nail art, by cutting tapes and pulling off.

It was fun and I look forward to more of these. You may also expect some more tape manis in future because finally , I feel I have improved on it :).

Do you also have technique of nail art that still gives you shivers and is your weakness? Would love to hear what is it?

Bright Tribal Nails with Glitter Texture Twist

May 28, 2014 Setu 14 Comments

Today I am sharing nail arts I did on two girls, most important in my life. My Mom and my sister. One is the hand I held throughout my life to grow into what I am today; while the other is the hand I have held and played throughout my childhood. Both these ladies are support system to my life and my best friends :).I can’t put in words ever what they mean to me, I can’t even attempt to explain.

I love working on their nails, because it gives me so much satisfaction to beautify my darlings nails.Last week I did nail art for both of them.I am all in for bright colors these days girls. Neons, orange, pink, green and what not, I just want to wear them all and flaunt them :). I had just purchased Color Show Glitter Mania and I was restless to use them. I used it on my sisters nails.

For my sisters nails, I used ColorBar Poppy Pink (I think this was the shade name), acrylic paints and of course Maybelline Color Show Glitter Mania ‘All That Glitters’. It is a gorgeous semi texture classy gold polish. This is my first love in the collection.

Bright Tribal Nails with Glitter Texture Twist

I wanted to match her nails with the dress she was supposed to wear the next day. I was in mood for some quick stamping but my sister insisted on some free hand. So I came up with this.

Bright Tribal Nails with Glitter Texture Twist

I chose the colors and patterns as per her dress. And I am really happy how it turned out. Trust me , I was extremely unsure of what I was gonna do. It was late night and I had to finish the nail art timely and leave for home. I just knew the colors I wanted to use.

Bright Tribal Nails with Glitter Texture Twist

I took a fine brush and dipped them in acrylic paints and kept on doing some spontaneous designs my mind came up with it. I used neon colored studs from BornPrettystore and they are fabulous. You can buy it at 10% site wide using my coupon code HQBQ10. You can refer the banner at the right side of the blog panel. Most importantly, my sister was pleased with the nail art.

Bright Tribal Nails with Glitter Texture Twist

This is a perfect Indian nail art which will go with any matching or contrast color outfit. I think it will rock with western outfits also, giving it a contemporary look.

Bright Tribal Nails with Glitter Texture Twist

This is a picture heavy post, because no amount of photograph is doing justice to the actual look of the nail art :P. The texture, the hue, color, the work and everything was so difficult to capture in few clicks.

Bright Tribal Nails with Glitter Texture Twist

They kind of look rustic tribal because of the free hand design and the gold semi texture from Color Show Glitter Mania, takes this rustic look to another level :) .

I used Neon Pink studs here to beautifythem. I got these Neon Studs from BornPrettyStore.com for review and they are amazing. You can buy them at here) .You can use my coupon code HQBQ10 to get 10% discount across the store :).

My Mom’s Tradition Green and Gold  Nail Art

My Mom’s Tradition Green and Gold Nail Art

My mom has very short nails. Obviously she does a lot of cooking and caring, to care about her nails or cuticles. I often get angry at my mom for not paying enough attention to her nails and cuticles. But then I think, had she paid too much attention to them, I would not have been what I am today. She totally sacrificed her desires, so that I could fulfil mine :).

My Mom’s Tradition Green and Gold Nail Art

So yes, even though the nails are trimmed and cuticles are asking for help. But they are the most beautiful hands to me in the world.

My mom was happy with the nail art, and there is no greater satisfaction than that. I am what I am because of her.

My Mom’s Tradition Green and Gold Nail Art

I used Cheeky Princess Charming Plate and Maybelline Color Show Bold Gold for stamping. I stuck some rhinestones to brighten up the look. It came out well. And I was wondering how beautiful an Indian dress material or saree would look with a similar print.

Anyways, this is a very long post with lots of pictures. But I couldn’t help it. I am talking about my sister and mom you see :). Please share your thoughts on the nail art. Also, let me know if there is someone in your life doing nail art for whom gives you utmost satisfaction

Maybelline Color Show Glitter Mania Collection Review

May 24, 2014 Setu 15 Comments

Hi Polish Lovers, as you all must be aware Maybelline Color Show launched 8 new glitters polishes. Now, I already have all the 40 Color Show existing shades which my husband gifted me for Karvachauth, so I have special affinity with Color Show polish range. I was in office yesterday when I came to know that Maybelline has launched 8 new shades. I had what you call as "Adrenaline Rush" to purchase it but I was late from work. However, today being Saturday and half day, my husband took me to Irla to get them.

Now, from the name of the collection, I just thought it must 8 new shades with shimmers and glitters. I am not a glitter/shimmer fan, they make any color look so common. So although, my husband asked me to pick all 8, I picked only 6. There were no testers for swatching.

Maybelline Color Show Glitter Mania

I got Matinee Mauve,All That Glitters,Starry Nights, Bling On The Blue , Dazzling Diva and Red Carpet. There were two other shades in rich purple and champagne which I skipped.

Price and Quantity :Rs 125 for 6 ml. (yes, the quantity is decreased and the price is increased)

Maybelline Color Show Glitter ManiaThe Colors : I must say the mix of colors is well thought through :). A good Gold and a Silver glitter should be the starting of any glitter collection, which was taken care here. The next set of colors that one would have wanted to work best with glitters are mysterious black and sexy red. Maybelline absolutely gave us both, nailed it. I will share pictures and first thoughts of all the 6 shades I have here.

[caption id="attachment_3382" align="alignnone" width="585"]Maybelline Color Show All That Glitters Maybelline Color Show All That Glitters[/caption]

Maybelline Color Show All That Glitters :It is my favorite of the collection, it is very blingy no doubt but it is the most sophisticated gold in my stash. It has micro gold shimmers and small gold hexes. I fell in love with it immediately.

[caption id="attachment_3387" align="alignnone" width="588"]Maybelline Color Show Glitter Mania Dazzling Diva Maybelline Color Show Glitter Mania Dazzling Diva[/caption]

Maybelline Color Show Dazzling Diva :  It is a dazzling silver with silver micro shimmers and small silver hexes. This is a perfect index finger color for nail arts. I had been waiting for such a silver for so long. It looks very rich, classy and unusual.

[caption id="attachment_3388" align="alignnone" width="566"]Maybelline Color Show Glitter Mania Starry Nights Maybelline Color Show Glitter Mania Starry Nights[/caption]

Maybelline Color Show Starry Nights : It is a mysterious black color with lots of silver glitters in it. It does not seem to have any hexes. I will be doing a detailed review and swatches for each one of them shortly. The color looks edgy and is not jet black due to silver glitter infusion.

[caption id="attachment_3389" align="alignnone" width="506"]Maybelline Color Show Red Carpet Glitter mania Maybelline Color Show Red Carpet Glitter Mania[/caption]

Maybelline Color Show Red Carpet : This was a color I had least expectation with. Red is a very tricky color, either you get it right or you get it wrong. And red with glitters can be such a disaster common street side color, if formulated faulty. As soon as the SA opened this bottle to show to me the red, I was pleasantly surprised. It is such a bright crimson red. And it has pink and gold shimmers. I was expecting silver or gold shimmers but pink shimmers just took it to another level. I am dieing to swatch this and show it to you soon.

[caption id="attachment_3394" align="alignnone" width="558"]Maybelline ColorShow Glitter Mania Bling on The Blue Maybelline ColorShow Glitter Mania Bling on The Blue[/caption]

Maybelline Color Show Bling On the Blue : It is peri winkle kind of glittery blue color. It has silver shimmers and silver small hexes. I think it has blue hexes and shimmer too. I can't make out exactly till I swatch. But I did not have a peri winkle blue in my stash so I am very happy.

[caption id="attachment_3395" align="alignnone" width="516"]Maybelline ColorShow Glitter Mania Matinee Mauve Maybelline ColorShow Glitter Mania Matinee Mauve[/caption]

Maybelline Color Show Matinee Mauve : This shade again looked like a common pinkish mauve. But when I opened the lid, I was again proved wrong. It has mauvish shimmers and small hexes along with silver. Again it may look common and run of the mill color but it is not.

Formula and Finish : The consistency looks like a one or two coater maximum. I would suggest two coats for opacity. They are glitter and shimmer packed polish. The color, shimmer, hexes and glitters are very finely packed in the bottle so that nothing outshines the other. The finish is textured and matte (non glossy). The touch of finished dried polish is gritty which is due to the glitter bomb the polish is. It looks like textured polish, the finish is definitely not smooth. Ofcourse, the texture or sand finish is not as intense as China Glaze and other brands who are pioneers in textures. But for Rs 125 , it is commendable.

Maybelline Color Show Glitter mania

I will be doing a detailed review and swatch of each polish soon. I am very excited with this new collection. I am very hopeful that Indian nail polish market is fast catching up with trends across globe. A texture like polish at this range is itself a revolution.

Final Verdict : Must Have!! Must Have!! Must Have!! (I am gonna to buy the two missed shades soon :P )

Let me know your first thoughts on the range. Are you as excited as I am? Did you feel the textured finish?

Inspired by my T Shirt Nail Art

May 17, 2014 Setu 6 Comments

I am so much in getting inspired these days, that every thing around me seems to give me a direction, a design, a pattern :). Few days back I did nail art inspired by my friends dress and I was quite feeling creatively satisfied :). I got more aware and awake towards drawing hints and cues from things lying around me.

Inspired by my T Shirt Nail Art

Last week I was out for holiday to Goa on my anniversary where I wore this top. And then I liked the freshness and inscription on the top so much that I wanted it on my nails. So when I came back I did this nail art :). My dresses are being a major inflow of inspirational juice to my nervous system :) :).

Inspired by my T Shirt Nail Art

This is my T -Shirt.

The reason also is that I did shop majorly in past weeks. Just to tell you for number sake, I purchased 10 kurtis , 12 T-shirts,3 pair of Jeans, 8 pair of shoes and few accecsories :P :P . Now, that's really a lot of inspiration. I am hoping to do some thing or the other inspired by them in the days to come. I hope you will enjoy it.

For this nail art I used Maybelline Colorshow Sweet Sunshine for Yellow base which matches my top to T. The stamping of the inscription is done using Moyou London Plate Pro Series - 04 . I used Maybelline ColorShow Blackout to stamp the design. It stamps very well and is sufficiently pigmented. I used Tip Top Creamy Orange to make the pocket on my Top. For the pocket to seem more real, I used white acrylic paint and a fine brush to draw stiches around the pocket. I hope my trick worked :P .

I finished the nail art with my favourite Seche Vite Top Coat. It dries so fast and leaves a splendid shine behind. My friend Manisha helped me get it from US, thanks a lot to her. She got me first Seche Vite and I am in love with it.

I hope you enjoyed my nail art. I have tried my best to make the nail art resemble closely to the T-Shirt. Do let me know your thoughts on it. It will inspire me to remain more inspired :).

Hibiscus Flower Nail Art

May 14, 2014 Setu 4 Comments

Hi Fellas, I am back with another floral nail art. I feel I am too inclined to flowers these days. But what to do , its summers and there is color all around. I find florals so apt on nails now :)

Hibiscus Flower Nail Art

It gives a happy and chirpy feeling. Also, I had got few MoYou London Plates and I wanted to put one to use. This is a simple nail art as it may look. But for some reason stamping wasn’t a good experience. I think I switched on the fan which resulted into images not picking up or not transferring :( :(

Hibiscus Flower Nail Art

Anywyas, this nailart was done few months back when I was all the more novice at stamping. I think I have improved a bit :P

Hibiscus Flower Nail Art

Hibiscus Flower Nail Art

Hibiscus Flower Nail Art

I used Essence Mordern Romance nail polish for base. Its such a lovely coral peachy shade. Totally gorgeous, with some micro shimmers which do not hamper the subtle look of the finish in anyway. I used MoYou London Plate Pro Collection 07 for getting the Hibiscus stamped on my nails. The polish used for stamping was Konad Special Red. The image did not transfer very neatly though :( . I used some yellow acrylic paint to do some detailing on the petals. I think they added to the look.

MoYou London Pro Plate 07

I think the nail art has a very simple and serene kind of look. It is decent and elegant. The coral peachy color ensured that the nail art looks sophisticated and feminine. It can be proudly worn to work too :) . What are your thoughts on the nail art. Do you any similar old stamping experiences to share? I would love to hear.

Bright Neon and Heart Nail Art

May 11, 2014 Setu 2 Comments

Hi Friends, I am in kinna happy swingy mood today :). By the time this post gets published , I will be in GOA :) :) :). Yes, I am taking a mini break in Goa to celebrate our 3rd marraige anniversary :). Time flies, and its 3 years of marraige. I was supposed be grown up and a little more matured (a little more boring) but I still feel like a kid running around. I still am choosy, picky, noisy, fussy, colorful, cheerful, naughty and what not. Maybe, I don't want to grow up at all!! :P

Bright Neon and Heart Nail Art

Anyways, since I am going to Goa, I needed a bright nail art. Actually I wanted to do something special but my nails broke the previous night :( :( :(. I chopped them to tiny miny length. The design that I had in mind was for the nail length I usually have. So when I got tiny canvas infront of me, I got stumped :P :P.

Bright Neon and Heart Nail Art

Also, I was late from work, then I went to parlour, then home packing and it was already 9pm :(. So I had very little time to apply a nail polish even. I somehow managed to do this nail art.

Bright Neon and Heart Nail Art

I am not very happy with the nail art and maybe I would not have even shared on blog. But my hubby said its not bad and you should share. So it's here :)

Bright Neon and Heart Nail Art

One of the reasons why chose this color is because its nice and pretty neon coraly orange, which is perfect and bright for holiday. But the main reason of picking this up, is that its Glow In Dark polish I got from BPS. Yeee!!! I am so happy with them . They actually illuminate at night. And I couldn't help but imagine how mysterious it would be looking at night in Goa beach :) :). Dark all around, sands scattered , sea roaring, dim moonlight and my nails glowing :) :). I will update with Glow in dark picture of this polish once I click it in dark.

Bright Neon and Heart Nail Art

For stamping I used Bundle Monster Plate 317 and the stamping polish used is Maybelline BlackOut. They stamp so well :) .On my index finger, I did a base of black and stuck numerous loose glitters. The glitters were orange in color and I thought it will compliment my nail art. But it was a huge mistake, the orange glitters were not opaque ones but iridescent. So it turned greeny orange after top coat and it also picked up color from the base black color. Such a wrong choice to use black color underneath :( :(.

Bright Neon and Heart Nail Art

But on the other side, it is complimenting the black stamped hearts :).Also, I am taking my chopped nails as an opportuninty to try out designing short nails. There are cute short nail designs that I had been staring for long in past. I guess its time to try them :). It's nice to find positive in everything :)

How do you feel about the nail art? Did you find something positive in my nail art?
