Nail Art Inspired by a House Hold Item

Hi Girls, I am here on the last week of STNChallenge and the theme is "Inspired by HouseHold Item". Now this was the theme that I had been waiting the most because it opens endless possibilties of inspiration. And I have so many inspirations lying around in my house itself, my dresses, curtains, bedsheet, paintings, curtains, cushion and what not.

But eventually by the day I had to work on this theme, things in the nail world were not in good shape (I mean literally too, check the shape of my nails :P ). My nails turned yellow suddenly , I think it was a polish stain. I did all possible, but it wont go. So I got annoyed and chopped my nails to half the lenght. And thus my motivation for nail art also got chopped to half :(. As if this was not enough, with half motivation when I decided to still work on my nails, I saw the corner of middle finger nails has broken and fallen off :( :( :(. God! I was like furious and helpless at the same time :(. So with all this crazy background and some amount of shoulder and neck pain due to excessive straining in office, I came up with this.

Statutory Warning : I am very disappointed in the nail art. I usually am not so bad. I have smeared polish and blurry prints on nails, but please stick along. I will try to do a nail art next which will not hurt your eyes like this one :(.

Anyways, I am such a drama queen, moving on to the nail art. This is inspired by a vase in the living room. No, the vase isnt as ugly as my nail art. Its my nail art pulling down my vase :(. I used Bundle Monster CYO plate to do stripes.

  • Envy Polish 'Laminate Me' for the Off White Polish in background.

  • BM CYO Plate No 411 to get Vertical Stripes with Orange first.

  • Used the same design now with blue to get horizontal lines.

  • Top Coated with Seche Vite.

If you see the vase and compare closely, I have deliberatly missed few patterns. The reason is my learning from past inspired nail arts , which is not trying to repliacte exact designs or prints from painting/inspiration item.Because the size of the nails and the inspiration item are on two ends. Last time, I tried to squish all the patterns exactly on my one inch nail, and it was messy. So this time I decided to just pick up elements just enough to let the nailart look neat.

This is the last week of the challenge and I am really gonna miss the push and inspiration. I am participating in another daily challenge from July which I am unsure how on earth will I do :P .But still I am gonna try my best. Right now, all I can say is that with dissatisfaction on this nail art, my motivation level is going low. I need to get a nice mani done to bounce back. See you guys with a better nail art hopefully in next post :).

  9. Thanks Madhu. Yes, it wasnt intentional to give sheer stripe look but I realised it looks more orignal. The vase stripes are of similar finish and now that you said it, I am all the more happy :)
