Roses in Gold Nail Art

August 31, 2014 Setu 0 Comments

Hi Girls, how are you? It feels like I am actually writing a post after ages. The posts that you have been reading lately were all scheduled posts. So no writing actually in the month of august :(.

Roses in Gold Nail Art

I had been to Nepal for a mini vacation and things at home and office both kept me busy and away from you :P. Anyways, the nail art I am sharing today isn't very new. I did them a month back but never got time to share.

Roses in Gold Nail Art

I did some gold roses on a gorgeous texture red by Maybelline ColorShow 'Red Carpet'. Its the best "Red" can go. Its a gorgeous glittery texture red with pink micro shimmers. The polish has been reviewed by me here. And this is how it looks.

Maybelline Color Show Glitter Mania Red Carpet Review

I used Maybelline Colorshow Bold Gold for stamping the gold roses. I can't say how smooth it is for stamping, as if it was just made for it. I used Moyou London Plate Pro 04 for the roses.

Moyou London Plate pro_04

I used some round gold studs to add some 3D element. I used to nail glue to stick it.

Roses in Gold Nail Art

The nail art looks perfect for brides, the classic red and gold combination. It may be dead cliched but never looses sheen. Anyways, I am neither a red fan nor gold but still loved this nail art.

Let me know if you liked it. Isn't very wedding-ish and festive.

Vintage "Toile de Jouy" Nail Art

August 23, 2014 Setu 2 Comments

Hi Girls, I have pretty and vintage print decal to share with you. Now to begin with what is "Toile de Jouy" ?  It is a cotton or linen fabric characterized by monochromatic prints on a light background. So they are delicate and classy by nature.

And I got these prints as nail decals for review from "La Vita e Bella Nail Decals Shop" for review. Its a Nail Art Decal shop on Etsy and have some really tasteful vintage decals. She sent me a set of 3 decals so there are more reviews to come. I am already reviewing them late so let me hurry up and show you what I did.

Vintage "Toile de Jouy" Nail Art

Using decals is extremly easy and quick, so its a good idea to stack them for emergency (when you gotto have nailart but no time for painting/stamping).

Vintage "Toile de Jouy" Nail Art

I was really confused on which one to use and finally I settled with this one. I used Sally Hansen White on as base on accent, middle and thumb. On my pinky and fore finger I used Maybelline ColorShow Sinful Chocolate.

Vintage "Toile de Jouy" Nail Art

With white acrylic paint and pointed end of toothpick I created some small polka dots. I think this was a right move. I wore the nail art for a day without Polkas and I kept feeling that something is missing.

After these polka dots yesterday, I feel the nail art is complete now :). Also, it made the nail art more bright and cute by one notch.

Vintage "Toile de Jouy" Nail Art

I hope you like them. They are pretty and stylish. You can purchase these decals from "here " and they ship worldwide at a very reasonable cost.

There is one downside of the decals though, they seemed not wide enough for my nails. You will not notice the gap much because it is just miss by milimeters. But still I guess they should be wider in general.

But all in all, I liked them for their uniqueness and deliacte look. Tell me how you feel about them.

Wet and Wild Mega Last 2% Milk Review

August 20, 2014 Setu 4 Comments

Hi Girls, I am in mood to share a nail paint I acquired last year, but is my top favourite till date. My travelling from US got it for me. I just saw it online and ordered for it, the name seemed unique :). I was in desparate need for a smooth glossy nude polish. They are a must have in every ones stash.

Wet and Wild Mega Last 2% Milk Review

Name :Wet and Wild Mega Last 2% Milk

Price and Quantity : Around $2.5 for 13.5 ml

Wet and Wild Mega Last 2% Milk Review

Color : The color of the polish is so true to the name "2% Milk". It is sheer nude polish, with very natural light flesh color. It actually has a milky base.It doesn't have any shimmers or glitters. It will compliment french manicure to T. This can also be used for nail arts on nude base. I think it looks good on its own too. On its won, it gives healthy shine and tint to nails. All the pictures taken are without top coat like I do for any polish review.

Wet and Wild Mega Last 2% Milk Review

Formula and Finish:  As I said the formula is sheer, but this is how a nude polish is. So this aspect is perfect. I can roughly say that the finish it gives is gelly like. There is a nice sheen on your nails after you apply it. The white tip of nails is partially visible even after two coats since the finish is not intented to be opaque. The application is smooth and non streaky.  This comes with a flat brush for easy application. The staying is also good, it went 5 days chip free for me :).

Wet and Wild Mega Last 2% Milk Review

Over all Rating : I am very satisfied with everything about the polish, color, finish and formula. I will give it 5/5. It is a must buy at this price if you love nude shades.

Dragon Fly Nail Art

August 16, 2014 Setu 0 Comments

Hi Sugars, I tried something on my nails today I would not have tried otherwise. I tried Dragon Flies on my nails. I am not very fond of Dragon Flies and I have very faint memories  of actually seeing one.

I saw Dargon Fly as a theme on http://www.californails.com/and it clicked. Something different, isn't it?

Dragon Fly Nail Art

I did this mani thrice :(. It is not at all a difficult mani but I missed something or the other , twice. After juggling something or the other, I came up with this. I used Sally Hansen Sugar Coat 'Sweetie' and 'Lick-O-Rich' for yellow and black texture base. I just bought those babies a day before. And I am so happy to posses them.

Dragon Fly Nail Art

I used Bundle Monster CYO plate to get the Dragon Fly on my nails. But only the black stamped dragon fly seemed very hollow. I mean it was not enjoyable at all. So I took a step ahead and used my acrylic paints to throw color on my dragon fly.

Dragon Fly Nail Art

It felt better instantly. And then I also made flowers and leaves on accent and thumb nails.

Dragon Fly Nail Art

I really liked the texture nails and finish. I hope you liked my nail art. Please share your comments to let me know what you feel about them.

Aussie Indie Polish Alanna Renne 'Hedwig' Review

August 13, 2014 Setu 4 Comments

Hi Girls, I am very excited to share my first Indie Polish Swatch. I am extremely fond of Indie polishes but the issue is availability in India. My friend was in Australia and she was coming back to India. She was supposed to come in January so I placed my order in December last year. But her trip got delayed by 6 months :(. So I saw these polishes after 6 months, longest I waited for a polish. But it was totally worth it. You should be seeing swatches of these babies soon. And I am really thankful to her for getting them, thanks Deepti :) .

I will start with 'Hedwig' which is the most dull (not in a bad sense at all, its just not bright) and most descent polish of the lot.

Aussie Indie Polish Alanna Renne Hedwig Review

About Alanna Renne :  Alanna Renee is an Australian brand which launched in January 2013. Alanna Renee is run single-handedly by Alanna in the spare time she has after working her full time job.

All products are hand made. Alanna Renee nail polishes are also available from a number of stockists all over the world

Aussie Indie Polish Alanna Renne Hedwig Review

About Hedwig : Hedwig has a mix of white, brown, black and yellow glitter in a white creme base. Hedwig is inspired by Harry Potter's pet Snowy Owl. Harry named her Hedwig after finding the name in one of his school books - A History Of Magic.

Aussie Indie Polish Alanna Renne Hedwig Review

Price and Quantity : It is priced at 7.99 AUD for 12 ml. Shipping is free for orders above 50AUD in Australia otherwise I paid around 8 AUD for shipping which increases the price :P

Aussie Indie Polish Alanna Renne Hedwig Review

Color : As correctly described by the brand , it is a white crelly base with white bars and yellow, black and white glitters. I thought the white bars and black small glitters will be barely visible and impactful. I was estimating at its best it would look a milky white. But the bars and glitters were decently prominent from 1st coat. It does give a milky white finish from very far but the unique and sophisticated choice and placement of glitters cannot be missed from near. I have applied two coats and its quite opaque. One can go with 3 also. It does look classy and different inspite of very small glitters and non contrast bars. My colleagues were able to make out the that I was wearing a different nail paint :)

Aussie Indie Polish Alanna Renne Hedwig Review

Finish and Formula : The fomula is smooth inspite of being packed with so many bars and glitters.  The effect of the bars and glitters is also prominent. The polish doesnt dry up to be glossy obviously. Some of my coulleagues also said it looks like texture. Well, not to me but it for some may be :).The finish of the polish is gritty ofcourse. I am pleasantly suprised by this polish. Each element in the polish makes its own mark. The finish is kinna rough if you rub your fingers on it.

Aussie Indie Polish Alanna Renne Hedwig Review

This polish would have been a fail had the bar and glitters missed to make impact, since the mixure is of very subtle colors., with Indian food and turmeric, such whitish polish does suffer color change. I don't cook often but yes I eat the same Indian food. So only right hand is effected. But if you take care of not dipping your nails generously in curries, the impact can be minimised :P. And yes, being a glitter polish the removal is a pain. I forgot to wear peel off base coat beneath and my hubby had to pay the price :P. I outsourced him to remove this polish yesterday and my darling was exhausted. I cooked yesterday after office which made me so tired so I had no energy left to rub and remove :(.

Aussie Indie Polish Alanna Renne Hedwig Review

Over All Rating : If you are looking a very sophisticated polish with not very prominent or popping hexes or if you happen to be a fan of Harry Potter, you can go for it. I am happy with and don't regret the buy. But as pointed out earlier turmeric and removal are a problem.

I would rate it 4/5. There is nothing wrong with the polish but I would have loved it more if it had contrast hexes. But my husband definetly liked the polish, he said its very classy :)

Jelly Sandwich Stamping Nail Art

August 08, 2014 Setu 4 Comments

Hi Friends, I am going to share my very first attempt on stamping between jelly sandwich today. I am thrilled and also scared, because I am unsure if this is what it was supposed to look like.

Jelly Sandwitch Stamping Nail Art

I am smitten by stamping these days, and I want to stamp every now and then. I love freehand too, it's so orignal, but I prefer freehand on a weekend when I have more time :). Though stamping also does take a considerable amount of effort and time.

Jelly Sandwitch Stamping Nail Art 1

Anyways, I have been purchasing polish left, right and centre and dumping them without using them :(. I bought NYX Juliana which is yellow jelly polish with micro shimmers day before. I am not fond of sheer polish but then I thought of Jelly sandwich and Leadlight technique and picked one.

Jelly Sandwitch Stamping Nail Art

So, finally yesterday night I did this nail art. I applied two layers "NYX Juliana" as base.

[caption id="attachment_3938" align="alignnone" width="516"]Jelly Sandwitch Stamping Nail Art Two Layers of NYX Juliana[/caption]

Jelly Sandwitch Stamping Nail Art

Then I used Sally Hansen White On to stamp images from Moyou Pro Plate 07 on my nails. With acrylic paint and dotting tool I gave centre dots to the flowers. I am not sure if it was the correct thing, but I like flowers that way.

Jelly Sandwitch Stamping Nail Art

After that, I applied one layer of NYX Juliana again. I have not used any top coat here because it makes polish very heavy on my nails. There is already a base coat and three layers of shimmer embedded polish.

Jelly Sandwitch Stamping Nail Art

The polish is very pretty and looks so juicy in person. It has a luscious shine I must say and I am loving it.

I am sure to use this polish more often in coming days. I also saw a similar finish polish on NYX stand in Neon Green that day, but didn't buy as I was unsure of its usage. But now I am sure when I go next, I am gonna hunt for these sheer jellies.

Jelly Sandwitch Stamping Nail Art

I am getting a lot of constructive ideas using such polish :). I can also use this a top coat on some colors to shift the hue. Also, we have Rakhee approaching and the twigs and flowers are paired in a way that they look like 'Rakhee'. Isn't it? I am think I am gonna wear this nail art for Rakshabandhan.Yellow being an auspicious color for us, I am also getting the traditional feel.

What do you guys have to say about the nail art and the polish? Please share your comments with me :)

Bold in Gold Nail Art

August 04, 2014 Setu 4 Comments

Hi Fellas, finally the OMD challenge is over and I am exhausted! . Now, no prompts and themes for few days , I will do the themes I feel like :).

After the challenge , I kept my nails bare for few days. And if keep my nails bare for long (read more than 1 day), I develop strong urge to paint them bright and lots of ideas (read zillion) keep hitting my mind :P. The longer the bare period is, the more hungry I am for nail art and inclined towards painting my nails even more bright.

Bold in Gold Nail Art

So something similar happened, and I ended up getting these bright nailart :). I am not found wearing sharp contrasts and dark colors on nails since I have to carry the same to work. And I already draw enough attention (both wanted and unwanted) in office. But I still took this as an exception and plunged for black and gold.

Bold in Gold Nail Art

The time taken to do the nail art and the gorgeous final results are disproportionate. I mean there is very little you can do when Black and Gold are at play together.

Bold in Gold Nail Art

I really needed something easy and dramatic on my nails. And this nail art did not let me down at all. Black and Gold are very safe combination and will always throw festivity around when roped together.

I painted my nails Black with Tip Top Black Forest, one of the most gorgeous blacks I have known. For accent nails I used brilliant Maybelline Glitter Mania 'All That Glitters' , its a textured gold polish. The most sophisticated and trendy gold I have seen.

Bold in Gold Nail Art

Moyou Fairy Tale 13 Stamping

For the intricate heena kinna print, I used Moyou Fairy tale stamping Plate 13 finally. I got them through a friend travelling to London, ya the same friend who got me Models Own and Seche Vite :), my polish friend Manisha. I used Maybelline Bold Gold for stamping and they stamp even better than Konads.

Bold in Gold Nail art

And with so many good things (read polishes and plates) put together, the outcome had to be charming. And here it is.

Bold in Gold Nail Art

I hope you love the nail art as much I and my other friends did. The design reminds of traditional Banarasi Saree. These are perfect to compliment any tradiional Indian attire or trendy western.I got lots of appreciation for them at work. What do you say guys?
