Free Hand Floral Twin Nails

March 29, 2015 Setu 1 Comments

Hello Sunshines, how are you all today? I hope bright and bubbling with energy. Most of the nail art that I share here is because I did them and I want post it for you, I want to know what you think of them. There are also a few which are just ‘Okay’ , mediocre making me too embarrassed to share ; they just lie and die a natural death in the ‘Image Gallery’ folder of my mobile phone. But then there are also few nail art that I am absolutely restless to share. Nail Arts that satisfied my creativity and I can’t wait to flaunt it on my blog, like this one.

Free Hand Floral Twin Nails

I had a hunch this would turn out good because I do well with most of the ‘Inspirational Nail arts’. I think my senses and calculation is better when I am focussed and sure of what I want. My recent proud Inspirational Nail art from the part are Inspired by saree from Satya Paul and Inspired by shoes from Rupert Sanderson. However the inspiration for this was no designer but an image that came up when I searched ‘Pattern’ on Pintrest. I do not know who the owner of this image is, but I own them on my nails now :)

Free Hand Floral Twin Nails

I downloaded a lot of images with the intention of getting them on nails, and this is one that actually did make it to my nails. There is one more reason for this nail art to make me joyful . This is a Twin mani I did with a close nail buddy of mine- ‘Rajani’. We know each other since when we began blogging and when my blog was – ‘The Nail Art and Beauty Diaries’ and hers was – ‘Crazy world of Rajani’. Today she blogs at –‘Polished Techie’.

Free Hand Floral Twin Nails

Apart from sharing a close bond, we also share our anniversary which is 12th May and have lot in common. She has been one of my most loyal followers on blog and always manages to comment on my posts inspite of her busy schedule. So you see why I am so excited about this Twin Mani with her? We shared a lot of images and finally picked this.

Free Hand Floral Twin Nails Inspiration Picture

Also, if there is any scope to add further more happiness and motivation for this nail art, it was our new Pure Color Brushes we got. We both were equally restless to get it, when we got we were crazy use it and finally we got it and used it together here.

Free Hand Floral Twin Nails

Now, some information on my nail art: I used Sally Hansen Wet Cement for base. It was such an exact colour matching the base of pattern that I did not have to think twice. Rest of the designs are done using acrylic paints and Pure Color Brush 10. I did mix few colours to get as near to the colour of design as possible. I think I did the good job there, because if not same, the colours are definitely very near to the print of inspiration image.

I was really not sure if I would be able to get the design correctly on my nails. This aspect of working on Inspiration manis is very challenging. Your work will always be compared with the Inspiration; hence there is an immediate and quick litmus test that your nail art is required to givAnd you either fail or pass, there is nothing in between. But here, I am assuming that I passed the test and the mani came out just fine. My husband and my friends really liked it. But I want to know if you liked this nail art. What are your views on Inspirational Nail Art? Do they help you channelize your energy and thoughts in one direction?

Vintage News Paper Nail Art

March 26, 2015 Setu 3 Comments

Hello Beauties, today I am feeling like a kid who missed her nursery/playschool and directly jumped to 1st Standard. When I started nail art after reading an ocean of articles/blogs/how to/tutorials I was blinded by images of Newspaper nail s esp when I read about Nail Art without tools. This developed a repulsive kina feeling for water marble and News Paper Nails. You know the overdose killed it.Lol.

 Vintage News Paper Nail Art

But after over 2 years of my Nail journey, I stumbled upon Newspaper nails while doing ‘Nail That Technique’ Challenge. You know what I told about the right kind of challenges, they make you stand face to face with what you left or missed. And I am very glad to finally do my first News Paper nail art.

Vintage News Paper Nail Art

I used NYX Pastel Pistachio for the base. I totally love this polish and it couldn’t be more true to the name. It’s a lovely pistachio shade which is so creamy and glossy. Since I had just bought this polish few hours back and the inclination to use it was deeper.

Vintage News Paper Nail Art

I used the cuttings of daily newspaper for the print. I tried to pick up bolder prints. I knew it would be a little trickier to show news paper prints on a relatively dark/dull base than white. But I so wanted to go with this color. Also, I definitely wanted my newspaper nail art to be different from common bases that have been used mostly.

Vintage News Paper Nail Art

I dipped the newspaper cutting in Rubbing Alcohol / Surgerical Spirit for a few seconds. Then I picked up the cutting with a tweeser , allowed excess liquid to drip and placed them on my nails. I pressed them lightly for the prints to pass on the nails and then removed them.

Vintage News Paper Nail Art

On top of the printed nails I decided to do some freehand flowers. I have always loved the idea of vintage kind base and flowers on top. So I used acrylic paints to draw them. Then ofcourse finished them with my Seche Vite. Let me know what you think of my nails? If you do not want to draw the flowers you can absolutely chuck it. This is an absolute easy nail art which can be done in minutes without tools. So do try it.

I got great replies to the question : Why do you think Hair is Fashion? It was difficult pick one best answer.

Lakme Hair Makeover winner

But here is the answer that Won the Giveaway :

"Hair has been a fashion element since centuries. Remember old story books showing queen's with cake like hair buns? Lol. Be it hair dos, or hair jewelry, hair fashion has been very important style statement. Current hair fashion trend may have changed but its still popular and important fashion element. These days there are lot of options of hair cut styles, getting hair colored, rebounding, straightening, hair extension and many more. Just the right style of hair cut can make you look 10 years younger. For e.g. From the Lakme Show stopping make over styles, I liked 'Illusion' most. It makes one look even more younger. So definitely, Hair is fashion statement."

The above entry is from Alpana Ladwani and has been picked up from her entry at Instagram.Congratulations Alpana, Lakme will be getting in touch with you soon to hand over the vouchers you are now entitled to.Lakme Hair Makeover Voucher winner

However, I could just announce the winner without mentioning some of the entries that really made it difficult to pick the winner.

Neha Shah: Hair is an integral part of woman’s personality and speaks volumes about her. A woman can transform her persona and look completely bold and edgy if she wants to or change her style and look elegant or soft or sexyy.. Hair is fashion.. not just fashion but your personal fashion that defines YOU!!

Manisha Katira : Just like you; I share a connection with Lakme Salon. I got my bridal make up done from them and so did my Bhabhi on my recommendation.
Hair is one of the most important part of body and everyone wants to accessorize and personalize it according to their comfort and preference. Be it funky hair jewelry, neon hair clips, bands, beads, haircut, hair color; both men and women want to stay trendy. Just like how we dress for the occasion; we style our hair for the occasion. It’s all about making an impact not just with apt dressing but with apt hair styling too and that is why hair is fashion.

So Girls, hair is important because at the end of the day, I do not wish to wear a low cut blouse.LOL!

While I was reading all the entries it got me thinking what is my hair style or how would I style my hair. It took me no time to realize that I am like any ordinary girl who needs a hair dressers appointment for any occasional hairdo. I am totally on my knees for any good hairstyle, its means a lot to complete a look but at the same time I am incapable of designing one on my own .

Bad Hair Cuts make me angry

Which means I should be confident of the hair dresser when he/she has a pair of scissor on him, because that is the look I am gonna carry. It is of empirical importance that I am absolutely comfortable with the hair (cut or color) I have without having to rush to parlour to get hair done for every occasion.Trust me I just need something classy  which looks stylish on its own (Hard to find, right?). This is exactly what Lakme gave me. I just love to leave my hair open every where be it work, evenings, parties or weddings. I enjoy setting them free, like in the picture below.

[caption id="attachment_4945" align="alignnone" width="338"]Lakme Showstopping Collection - My Experience No Setting, no blow dry- Just Naturally Raw Dried Hair! Don't I Look Happy?[/caption]

This is my style for every where. And with my new cut and color at Lakme , I feel extremely confident of carrying them plain simple open, just anywhere and everywhere.

Negative Space in Tribal Mood Nails

March 23, 2015 Setu 1 Comments

You know sometimes you are just in mood to jump out of your comfort zone for once and try out something different. I had one of such moments lately and I tried on a negative space and tribal fusion mani.

Negative Space in Tribal Mood Nails

Now, tribal prints have been my all my all time favourite and quite frankly there is nothing out of comfort zone here. But the kind of patterns that I used this time for tribal print is definitely different. Blending tribal with negative space was also a challenge.

Negative Space in Tribal Mood Nails

So if not for the result, I am still happy I did try something different. These are kind of patterns I had been eyeing on for long but couldn’t gather the courage. It feels so good to challenge oneself and come out fairly successful. I am sipping that feeling now.

Negative Space in Tribal Mood Nails

This mani is all free hand with nail polish and acrylic paints. The white I used is Sally Hansen White On, the neon pink is Models Own Polish for Tans- Sun Hat, Turquoise is Models Own Hypergel - Turquoise and the black is acrylic paint.

Negative Space in Tribal Mood Nails
I know I have not done my best, but trust me a lot dedication and time has gone into it. It was a lot of detailed work for a neck after being on laptop for 11 hours of work. I literally had an ache in my neck and shoulder after this. I am not trying to be a cry baby here, all I am saying is I definitely underestimated the amount of time and precision this would take.

Negative Space in Tribal Mood Nails

I am really taken away by prints like this. I definitely plan to do more of these inspite of all the neck pain. I would say it was worth. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thanks to #nailathattechnique challenge which pushed me for negative space. I have done negative space in past, but nothing like this.

Negative Space in Tribal Mood Nails

What you think on the fusion of negative space and tribal? Did I nail it or fail it?

St. Patrick's Day Nail Art

March 18, 2015 Setu 1 Comments

Hi Girls, this is my first time doing St. Patrick's Nail art, not sure why I never tried this before. It is the third St. Patrick's day since I have been doing nails but I never actually considered doing it. I think i didn't have the right green. Lol!

St Patrick's Day Nail Art

I did this nail art on Zoya Veruschka  a brilliant frozen sparky green polish from their Velvet Matte Collection. On my pinky and fore finger I am wearing Santa's Helper by Alanna Renne.

St Patrick's Day Nail Art

I stamped the image using Bundle Monster Secret Garden collection. Although the finish of the Zoya Veruschka is supposed to me matte, I applied Seche Vite to make it Glossy.

St Patrick's Day Nail Art

Also I fixed Golden studs on my pinky and fore finger using nail glue.

St Patrick's Day Nail Art

Veruschka is a Czech word, very common name in Russia meaning faith. Please leave your thoughts about the nail art below.

Freehand Twigs and Leaf Nails

March 18, 2015 Setu 2 Comments

Hi Freinds, I had expected this nail art to turn out a little bit more delicate and dreamy kinds. But here I am with this. Its not bad but not what I had imagined in my mind.

Freehand Twigs and Leaf Nails

I was expecting the leaves to be more random and curvy , also my twigs to be more flowy. But at the end I am not disappointed. I am happy with the result and the fact that I did freehand. Yeah, freehand always me happier and gives me more satisfaction.

Freehand Twigs and Leaf Nails

The design is quite inspired by my quilt on which I have posed my hands. I did play around and tweeked the colors though.

 Freehand Twigs and Leaf Nails

The base I used is Wet and Wild Night Prowl which had been lying untouched in my stash for 1.5 years now. Such a shame!! It is dark black currant kind creme polish with so many dark purple shimmers. It looks really rich and mysterious in person.

Freehand Twigs and Leaf Nails

All the freehand done over it is acrylic paint and finished with top coat. Please drop your comments on how do you find my nail art.

Lakme Showstopping Collection - My Experience and Giveaway

March 17, 2015 Setu 6 Comments

Hello girls, few months back I was contacted for reviewing Lakme ShowStopping Collection.I was like why not? Not because the offer was from a premier salon but since my relation from Lakme goes way back. I had chosen Lakme for my makeup and Saree Draping for my Engagement in 201o. And I truly impressed by their impeccable service. They gave me just what had in my mind.

Lakme Showstopping Collection - My Experience

Anyways, I got call from Divya from Bandra Khar to fix up an appointment where she told the look included cut and color. Now I have never ever colored my hair and I am extremely skeptical about it. But because it was Lakme it got me thinking. I thought if I have to ever get my hair colored I would never turn to anyone except Lakme. So why not now?

[caption id="attachment_4935" align="alignnone" width="491"]Lakme Showstopping Collection - My Experience This is where the Magic Gets Done!![/caption]

I called my younger sister to assist me choosing the style, but she was late. Meena at the salon made me browse the royal book of Show Stopping Collection Book, explained me looks, tried to understand what I had in mind and we finalized.

About Show Stopping Collection : You can browse the Show Stopping Collection here.

‘Illusion’, :Loud, unconventional, trendy. This trend oozes of youth and rebellion.

[caption id="attachment_4937" align="alignnone" width="400"]Lakme Showstopping Collection - My Experience Look from Illusion[/caption]

‘Metamorphosis’: For those who like change, this is a blend of sophistication and          whacky! Go bold with new shapes.

[caption id="attachment_4938" align="alignnone" width="400"]Lakme Showstopping Collection - My Experience Look from Metamorphosis Collection[/caption]

‘Moulin Rouge’ : From vintage to the post-modern fashion Renaissance, the ‘once upon a time’ celebrated fashion culture makes a come-back.

So we picked up fusion of two, Cut from the 'Metamorphosis' and color from 'Illusion' (Attached Above).I was so happy when we hit it And then walked in my sister and she was equally excited when I explained her.

[caption id="attachment_4940" align="alignnone" width="675"]Lakme Showstopping Collection - My Experience Their Nail Display, How could I miss it?[/caption]

My hair was first colored , then washed followed by cut and blow dry. I did not choose to bleach my hair so the color was done on my natural black hair. The style of coloring was ‘Ombre’ which is a French word for ‘Shade/Shadow’. Usually a multicolored stripe, with colors graduating from light to dark. This effect is also gradient and used as a nail art technique. In context of hair this kind of look also called Dip-dyed hair is a trend amongst celebrities and fashionistas. I chose red color for Ombre and just got the tips of my hair and certain strands on front colored red. And it actually looked like the ends of my hair were just dipped in color.

[caption id="attachment_4942" align="alignnone" width="411"]Lakme Showstopping Collection - My Experience My Look immediately After Cut and Color.[/caption]

Since they were colored on natural black here, it gave a lovely reddish brown color which exactly what I wanted, you know like rust color. I was so happy with my hair after they were blow dried. But the photographs captured of my hair in Lakme were not impressive because my red top camouflaged the red ombre. So I decided to get it clicked again on other dress later.

[caption id="attachment_4943" align="alignnone" width="520"]Lakme Showstopping Collection - My Experience My Hair in absolutely raw form after Hair wash a week Later.Don't they Look dipped in Red?[/caption]

The next day was even more exciting than the day of makeover. Usually, when we get a cut we look diva just when it is blow dried and the next day back to ‘Bad Hair Day’. But here it was just the opposite. After hair wash when I went to work, I liked my hair even more. Not only did the color take it to other level but the cut was great too. I get endless compliments for my hair till date. I have never loved my hair more, trust me. It is just perfect cut and color. Something doesn’t go away with hair wash or a bad hair cannot take away. I simply feel confident and beautiful about them.

[caption id="attachment_4945" align="alignnone" width="423"]Lakme Showstopping Collection - My Experience Again, No Setting, no blow dry- Just Naturally Raw Dried Hair! Don't I Look Happy?[/caption]

I am simply, truely , madly and deeply in love with my hair, more than I have ever been :). So I am not being selfish here and I intend to share some of my happiness with you too :). I am hosting a small giveaway and Lakme will be giving a Rs 1500 gift Voucher to the winner.

Saree designed by Gauri Khan - Satya Paul Inspired Nails

March 14, 2015 Setu 2 Comments

Hello Girls,I said that I am off challenges categorically. Yes I remember a long post on it and discussing both pros and cons. With that entire notion in your head you come across a challenge which you just crave to do, somehow, anyhow. This is one of those challenges.

[caption id="attachment_4921" align="alignnone" width="600"]Nail Art fashion week Nail Art fashion Week Promt[/caption]

I have always been fascinated by fashion inspired nail art. My strongest inspirations have been my dresses. I just love getting them on my nails. I mean that’s my superpower if I can do nails. They are unique because I own those inspirations.

Saree designed by Gauri Khan - Satya Paul Inspired Nails

I know I am way behind the challenge but I just wanted to do it, even if I am lagging behind. For the first days theme ‘Favourite Fashion Designer’ I chose Satya Paul. I love his designs and they make me feel weak in my knees.

Saree designed by Gauri Khan - Satya Paul Inspired Nails

This particular saree that is my inspiration has been designed by Mrs Gauri Khan under the brand of Satya Paul. Look at the saree , it is so vibrant and unique. I mean who wouldn’t want to own it?

Saree designed by Gauri Khan - Satya Paul Inspired Nails

Anyways, for this nail art I used Sally Hansen White On as base and then did a coat of NYX First Dance over it to give it a golden rich off white kina look. The real tough decision was how to prep the base, so after lot of brain storming, I picked up the fan brush technique for the base. To stamp the inscription I used Moyou London Stamping Plate – Pro Collection.

Saree designed by Gauri Khan - Satya Paul Inspired Nails 1

On my pinky and forefinger I did a French tip of Sally Hansen Green with Envy and then did some green glitter placement to define border.

Saree designed by Gauri Khan - Satya Paul Inspired Nails

Before I ask you how you feel about it, I want to shout out and say I am very pleased and content with them. I am very happy and I am getting praises from all corners to boost up my confidence. But at the end, I definitely want to know how my readers feel about it, without which my joy cannot be complete?
